Our vision is to see people Alive in Christ and Alive for Others!

It all started with these words...

“I have a dream; God’s dream. I’m dreaming of a people committed to the Master. That is, a people who are personally intent upon his purposes and bringing them about on the earth. A people who are so occupied with obeying the Lord’s specific instructions to them that they do not have time to be involved in another’s business not their own or petty things such as gossip, back biting, putting others down, criticism, etc. But, their time is spent going about the task the Master has given them: the sharing of Christ’s love and life to those they come in contact with and expanding that love and life to the world. I’m dreaming of a well-functioning body of believers harkening unto the voice of the Captain of Hosts, establishing His kingdom rule upon the earth and in the lives of others, and these communities to spring up around the world. A people that so love that it transcends all barriers of race, culture, prejudices, and differences; allowing Christ’s life to flow freely to others and allowing Christ, Himself to express Himself freely in these communities through their cultures., customs and race, etc. A people who not only say Christ is the answer, but show Him forth as the answer in a multitude of simple ways: giving of food, time disciplining, and teaching others to read; for them to live is Christ and the accomplishing of His mission.

I have a dream of that people being the believers of Church Alive! Of them taking God’s grace and letting it flow around the world through them: their lives, their time, their whole hearts committed to the completing of God's mission."

Pastor Mike

Our mission is to see people Reaching, Restoring, Renewing, and Reproducing in the lives of other people through the power of Jesus Christ...

People with the love of God.

What does our immediate community need from us? This question consumes of focus. We want to help you where you are. Tensions, turmoils, and transitions are a part of everyday life. So we designed our philosophy and website around your potential needs. Whether you are exploring Christ or need help in parenting, we have provided resources to help you along the way.  View our "Exploring Christ" and "Tensions and Turmoils" pages to find out how we can help you.

Our minds to think God's thoughts according to His word.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." - Romans 12:1-2 NJKV

The renewing of the mind is key for the growth of any believer. At Church Alive we focus on, "A Way of Life." This includes walking in love, walking in faith, walking in the Spirit, walking in the light of God's word, walking in forgiveness, and understanding who you are in Christ.

Everyone into full fellowship with Christ and others.

At Church Alive, we believe spiritual growth happens best in the context of community. That’s why we encourage every person that’s serious about following Christ to get involved in a Life Group. Restoration can happen in a multitude of ways, but one primary way this occurs is through our Life Group environment. We believe it is a key catalyst for spiritual growth. Whatever your season of life, whatever your interests, we believe the abundant life we all long for is found in a community. Don’t miss it! See our Life Group page for more...

The Life of Christ in others.

At Church Alive, we've concluded that every believer is a minister, and our job is to equip you to do the work. Reproducing His life in other is encompasses quite a bit. It can be as simple as learning how to share your faith but also include advanced training for those feeling the specific call of ministry. Wherever you are on your journey, we want to help.

Three primary values we use to accomplish our vision and mission are:

Luke 18:1

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable showing them that they should always pray and not give up.”

Psalm 119:13

“The unfolding of Your word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”

1 Peter 5:6

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that in due time He may lift you up.”

Luke 18:1; Philippians 4:6;
James 4:6,7; 1 Peter 5:6,7;
Matthew 5:3, 6:33; Psalms 119:130

Humble people pray, praying people to humble themselves, and humble people live life simply by God’s principles. Seek first the Kingdom of God!

Renewing our mind to think God's thoughts is critical to every believer. We believe that walking out Christ's life consists of....

John 14-17; Romans 5:5;
1 Corinthians 13:4-8;
Philippians 1:9,10

We set our hearts to love as He has loved us; this is His instructions to us. His love has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, thus we can love as He has loved us. God’s love is patient, kind, is not jealous, does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly and does not take into account a wrong suffered. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things. God’s love in us never fails. It knows no fear, no defeat, no hatred, no prejudice…. and this is the love we are growing in and learning to exhibit in every situation of life.

Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:14; John 14:26; 2 Corinthians 4:13, 5:17; Genesis 1:26; 1 John 4:1-17; 1 Corinthians 2:16; Galatians 5:16-25; John 1:12; Romans 8:19

We are to be Spirit-filled, Spirit-led, and Spirit fed; moving by the spirit of faith. We must realize we have been made alive (new creations) by the power of the Holy Spirit, created in God’s image and likeness to walk like Hw would walk, speak what He would speak, think like He thinks, and do what He would do. When we walk, yielded to the Holy Spirit, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Matthew 6:14-15; Matthew 18:21-35; Mark 11:25; Luke 6:37; Luke 7:47-48; Colossians 3:13; Ephesians 4:31-32; 2 Corinthians 5:17.

God made our heart for love, joy, peace, and wholeness. Unforgiveness can cause us to forget our original design and isolate ourselves from relationships around us. It inhibits God from working in our lives. God, who made our heart, has shown a way past the wounds of the past and asks us to return to His designed life and love - the path of freedom.

Mark 9:23, 11:23; 2 Corinthians 5:7; Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38; Romans 4

We walk by faith and not by sight; for the just shall walk by faith, and without faith, it is impossible to please God. In faith, we follow Abraham’s example, our father in father. He based his words and his actions on what God had promised, not on what his circumstances were or whether the situation seemed possible or not (he hoped against hope). This means we believe what God’s word says over our circumstances and situation and stand on that word until it comes to pass. All things are possible to those who believe.

John 1:1; Joshua 1:8; Psalms 1, 119; Proverbs 30:5; Romans 1:16, 10:17; Ephesians 6:17; 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Hebrews 1:3, 4:12, John 8:31;1 Peter 1:23, 3:5;
Psalms 119:105

God’s Word is God’s Will. In the beginning, was the Word of God (Jesus Christ). Creation came into existence by the Word and is upheld by the Word. The Bible, God’s Word, is our sure foundation. Faith comes by hearing the Word. In His Word, we find promises to us which are yes and amen in Jesus Christ. God’s Word guides, instructs, corrects, brings faith for salvation and for all of His provisions. We are to pray it, declare it and meditate on it day and night. It renews our minds and brings us a revelation of Him. God’s Word guides us down His path of life!

Find out about the history of Church Alive!

In late 1992, the Lord began to deal with Pastor Mike about being a Senior Pastor. In May of 1994, both Pastors Mike and Sheri resigned their ministry position. Six months later, they started Church Alive! Basically it began with Pastor Mike and Sheri, their two children, and one car (with an enormous truck). After a little time in the first location (an east side hotel), the Holy Spirit impressed Pastor Mike to cross the river and begin the church in the northwest area of Albuquerque. The Lord blessed Pastors Mike and Sheri and Church Alive! for following what the Lord had placed on their heart by producing a miracle for a fixed facility on Coors Blvd (the major street on the west side of Albuquerque). The church began to grow and most of the current staff began to attend and develop.

Then began the trust period for Church Alive! The current facility changed ownership and caused the church to meet in temporary locations, primarily of which was Petrogliph elementary school. All of the equipment for Church Alive! had to fit into one large truck and it was necessary to set up everything week after week. Thankfully, due to the love and loyalty, of the church pastors and members, Church Alive! continued. As Pastors Mike and Sheri continued to believe for a fixed facility, they and the staff of Church Alive! were blessed once again.

In August of 2003, Church Alive! moved into its current location! The vision and mission of Church Alive! is now cemented in our hearts by the testing of our faith, and now we focus on much more than a building made by human hands; that is people reaching, restoring, renewing, and reproducing Christ in the lives of others.

Pastor Mike Schaefer is close to death from the life-threatening injuries of a skiing accident. His close, extended, and church families are determined to see him through. Imagine if you could read the narrative of Jesus Christ in one full seamless story, using every detail found in all four gospels of the Bible. What would you learn along the way? Would it uniquely enlighten you? Would it clarify events that may have confused you in the past?

The four gospel accounts found in the Bible were each written to a different audience for various purposes. While reading one story, it can be challenging to envision the complete account of what genuinely took place. Much like having a puzzle piece and trying to match it to the full picture.

The Unpuzzled Journey dares to take on the challenge of puzzling these pieces together so that you can visualize His journey on this earth. This resource brings the gospels together in an exclusive way and unlocks enigmas rarely seen before in His journey.

Coming 2020!

Colourful Pile of Old Books

Below are fundamental scriptural beliefs that we hold here at Church Alive!

Deuteronomy 4:1-2; Psalm 119:11, 89, 105; Isaiah 40:8;
Matthew 22:29; John 5:39,
16:13-15, 17:17; Romans 15:4;
2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2, 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:21;
1 Thessalonians 2:13

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. It is accurate, authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives. We accept it as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine.

Luke 10:21-22; Matthew 23:9; John 3:16, 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Timothy 1:1-2, 2:5-6; 1 Peter 1:3; Revelation 1:6

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in love, holiness, justice, and grace. We believe that He is all-knowing and all-powerful. We believe that He mindfully and mercifully concerns himself with the lives of humankind, that He hears and answers our prayers, and that He offers salvation from sin and death through Jesus Christ.

John 14:16-17, 26; 15:26-27; John 16:9-14; Romans 8:9;
1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19;
Galatians 5:22-26

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, co-equal with Jesus and the Father in the Godhead. We believe the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son, convicts the world of sin and promotes righteousness and judgment. The Holy Spirit is our omnipresent, omnipotent helper, comforter, and guide to all who believe in Jesus.

Genesis 3; Psalm 32:1-5; Isaiah 6:5; Jeremiah 17:5; Romans 3:10, 3:23, 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22

Through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. We believe our sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort.

Ephesians 2:8-9, 3:10; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10, 13, 5:14, 3:23; Acts 16:31;
Hebrews 9:22; 1 John 3:8

We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ: His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is an unmerited gift from God, not earned by good works or any human effort, made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Whosoever calls upon Jesus will be saved.

Hebrews 12:14; I Thessalonians 5:23; II Peter 3:18; II Corinthians 3:18, Philippians 3:12-14,
I Corinthians 1:30

The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet a progressive work of grace; commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation and Christ’s return.

Matthew 16:18-19, 18:15-20;
Acts 2:41-47, 5:11-14, 13:1-3, 14:23, 16:5, 20:28; 1 Corinthians 7:17; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 3:10-12, 5:22-32;
Colossians 1:18, 3:15; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 21:2-3

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer, and the "breaking of bread."

We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfill our role in the Church, and serve the community in which we live.

Matthew 5:3, 12, 20; 6:20, 19:21, 25:34; John 17:24; 2 Corinthians 5:1; Hebrews 11:16; 1 Peter 1:4;
Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 19:20

We believe a person’s eternal destination of either Heaven or Hell is determined by their response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 1:11

At the ascension, the angels said, “This same Jesus will come back in the same way you saw Him go into Heaven.”

Matthew 24:30, 26:63-64;
Acts 1:9-11;

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17;
2 Thessalonians 1:7-8;

Revelation 1:7

Following the tribulation, He shall return to the Earth as King of kings, the Lord of lords, and together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests, He shall reign a thousand years.

1 John 5:7; John 1:1, 14, 18, 14:28, 16:28; John 15:26; Deuteronomy 6:4;
Isaiah 61:1; Philippians 2:6

Our God is one, but manifested in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal. God the Father is greater than all, the sender of the Word, and the Begetter. The Son is the Word, flesh-covered, the Only Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning. The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal. God is totally loving and completely Holy.

1 John 1:7; Revelation 1:5, 5:9; Colossians 1:20;
Romans 3:10-12, 23; 5:9; John 1:29

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only One who can restore us to God. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe the unconscionable beating and violent crucifixion of Jesus was in our place--the full, fitting payment for our sin.

Genesis 1:26-30, 2:7, 18-22; 3:1-24; Psalm 8:3-6, 51:5; Acts 17:26-31; Romans 1:19-32, 5:14, 3:10;
Ephesians 2; 1 John 2:8

We believe that mankind was made in the image of God. Every human person is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God. Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God.

Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 9:22

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness from God and new birth, we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives. Man’s first step towards salvation is godly sorrow that works repentance. The New Birth is necessary to all men and when experienced produces eternal life with Christ.

Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Romans 6: 1-14; Mark 16:16; Acts 8:12, 36-38; 10:47-48, Colossians 2:12

Baptism in water by immersion is a direct commandment of Jesus and is for believers only. Baptism is an ordinance symbolic of the Christian’s identification with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

Joel 2:28-29; Matthew 3:11;
Mark 16:17; Acts 1:5, 8, 2:1-4,
17, 38-39; 8:14-17, 10:38, 44-47;
11:15-17, 19:1-7; 1 Corinthians 14;
Ephesians 5:18

The baptism in the Holy Spirit, as promised by Jesus to all believers, is a gift received subsequent to the new birth (salvation). The baptism in the Holy Spirit enables Christ-followers to fully utilize public and private spiritual gifts for the furtherance of the Church and for personal spiritual growth. It is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received by faith. Then the believer is commanded to continually “be filled” with the Spirit. We believe the evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues.

Matthew 25:41; Mark 9:43-48; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 14:9-11,
19:20, 20:12-15, 21:8

Scripture uses words like “everlasting fire,” “torment,” and “wrath” to describe Hell. We believe Hell is a literal place. Eternal separation from God happens there.

The one who physically dies without accepting and confessing Jesus Christ as Lord is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel and repenting. The terms “eternal” and “everlasting” used in describing the duration of punishment in the Lake of Fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of saints in the presence of God.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Acts 1:11; Revelation 20:6

We believe in the resurrection of the saints and rapture of the Church. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 says, “...the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”

We believe in the physical, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe His coming is Imminent. When He comes, the dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds (what we refer to as the rapture), to meet the Lord in the air.

Psalm 103:2-3; Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16-17; Mark 16:17-18; Acts 8:6-7; James 5:14-25;
1 Corinthians 12:9, 28;

I Peter 2:24; Romans 11:29;
Isaiah 53:4-5

Daily health and divine healing were purchased by Jesus’ atoning sacrifice and wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith. Wisdom for the healthy stewardship of our bodies and divine healing is made available by the laying on of hands, the prayer of faith, and/or supernatural gifts of the Spirit to every believer.
