Robert Mc Gee has written what I consider the definitive textbook on Biblical self-worth. You will learn God's system of value compared to the world's system. Instead of finding our value through possessions, performance and other people's opinions of us, we can base our value on our intrinsic worth through creation and redemption. Practical daily application tools are also provided. This is a wonderful book for those battling with significance issues, which are the root of a myriad of negative behaviors and mental disorders.

Before we can reach today's youth with the truth of the gospel, we need to see what they see and hear what they hear. We need to catch the messages encrypted in their culture and understand what's really being communicated. In Engaging the Soul of Youth Culture Walt Mueller, founder and president of the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding, helps us to navigate the troubling and confusing terrain of teen worldviews so that we can effectively and compassionately pass along good news: our God is their God, our Savior can be their Savior.

As You Leave Home
By Jerry B. Jenkins

Ever notice how your teen likes to put some "distance" from Mom and Dad, right as you're getting ready to launch him or her into the world? With our firstborn heading off to college, we started to see that imposed separation coming on, right as we were trying to have that last steering influence. So many things to say, and yet so difficult to communicate. Mom and Dad's opinions didn't exactly get top priority.
A friend told me about this book, and I read it with interest. I realized it would be the ideal gift for our departing son. It says things in a considerate, balanced way, yet it's exactly the messages you want to give your departing child. I read it with a boy in mind, since our son was departing. I then re-read it and saw that it would be effective for a girl as well. Since we have two other daughters and another son, I ordered several copies.
This book is based on the principles of Biblical Christianity, but it's real practical and down-to-earth, not preachy. It was a delight to present it to my son as a gift.

The world you live in promotes sex as the answer to just about everything.  The pressure to go along with the crowd is greater than ever before, and it's easy to compromise in little ways that are a lot more harmful than they seem.  You and your friends may become caught up in destructive relationships or sexual activities without even knowing how you got there.  You just want to be normal–to fit in, to be liked, to look attractive to the opposite sex.  But are you paying too high a price?

Whether you have so far protected yourself emotionally and sexually, feel that you've been robbed of your purity, or have given in to temptation in some way, this book (with an accompanying workbook) can help you achieve or reclaim sexual integrity.  It can also guide you through the temptations and pressures of young adulthood while demonstrating how you can live your life to the fullest–without regrets.
